"These kids matter to
God!".
Erin works for the Red Centre Trust, operating out of
Ashmore Community Centre off the Shankill Road. She
works among children in this difficult
inner-city environment of North Belfast, running
after-school activities. Being in an area
of paramilitary strongholds brings huge challenges.
"Our kids are ignorant of the Gospel. Many have
addictive habits, even from the age of 5. They have an
insular attitude to life. The rates of truancy,
expulsions from school and even suicide increase each
year. It appears that Satan has much control over the
area. But we believe that Jesus Christ can
miraculously turn the situation around, even in
areas where it might seem like an impossible task. Our
foremost aim is to show the children an unconditional,
Christ-like love. As we connect with the children and
invest in their lives we hope to make contact with their
families and bring Jesus to them". |
