Uganda
In February 2003 Robert visited Uganda with tractors in mind. Robert is from an agricultural background, and currently works on farming or horticultural machinery. Fields of life is an Irish-based charity which has established schools, a farm and various agricultural projects in Uganda. Robert and a colleague had learned that the tractor, on the "Fields of Life" farm, was out of action and in need of a major overhaul.
The photographs illustrate just how major the overhaul was. It was real challenge to the two men; they faced many technical problems as well as coming face to face with Ugandans - poverty, pain, love, generosity and beautiful smiles.
The link established will not be easily broken - we hope to have a visit from
some of the Ugandan children in 2005.
